An Integrated Approach
Green infrastructure is more than just green spaces. It is a collaboration with nature in providing systems that deal with water, waste and energy distribution whilst enriching the quality of public open space and its potential for creation and biodiversity. Higher density of development and road systems with less land-take mean that there is more opportunity for weaving green spaces into the fabric of the suburban model.

This leads not just to a greater quantum of green space, but also increased accessibility. It is possible for well conceived green spaces to become an integral part of the movement network, allowing pedestrians and cyclists a more efficient and direct route to town centres and transport hubs, thus promoting healthy living and reduced car reliance.
